Rudolf Nuryev and Prokofiev's Dance of the Knights

It's some of the boldest music Sergei Prokofiev ever composed. As such, it has taken on something of a life of its own off the ballet stage, in concert halls and on radio airwaves around the world. In this video, the legendary Rudolf Nuryev dances his own choreography for the Dance of the Knights from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet ballet. This 1980 La Scala performance also featured none other than Margot Fonteyn as Lady Capulet.

Jennifer Hambrick unites her extensive backgrounds in the arts and media and her deep roots in Columbus to bring inspiring music to central Ohio as Classical 101’s midday host. Jennifer performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago before earning a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
