The New York Times has reported medical misfortunes for two big-name operatic tenors. Salvatore Licitra is in serious condition after sustaining severe head injuries in a motor scooter accident in Sicily. And according to a separate report, Jonas Kaufmann's physicians have ordered him to undergo surgery to remove a node in his chest. Kaufmann reportedly said, through his management, that he anticipates his surgery will not cause him to cancel his upcoming appearances in the Metropolitan Opera's productions of Gounod's Faust and Wagner's Ring cycle.
