Hundreds of musical casualties can now be added to the torched buildings and buses brought about by the recent riots in London. According to a report in The Guardian, a fire in the South London borough of Croydon has destroyed flutist Carla Rees' apartment and with it, her entire instrument collection and a music library containing some 600 one-of-a-kind scores of works composed for her and her contemporary music ensemble, rarescale.
