It's always nifty when one art form influences another. I learned recently that Walter Crane's beautiful collection of nursery rhymes and children's songs The Baby's Opera was the inspiration behind Roger Quilter's lovely orchestra piece A Children's Overture. And, after all, why not? Crane's book is gorgeous. But don't take my word for it; see for yourself: leaf through The Baby's Opera page by page in this full-color, online presentation of Crane's book. You won't be disappointed.
