Young Cellist Named 2011 TED Fellow
Joshua Roman (website), who was named Principal Cello with the Seattle Symphony at age 22, has recently been named a TED Fellow for 2011. TED, (which stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design), is "where the world's leading thinkers and doers gather to share ideas worth spreading." Roman is being recognized for his commitment to making classical music available to a wider audience. Iconic Music Festival Gets A Facelift
The Ojai Music Festival (website) has, over it's nearly 65 years, attracted a Who's Who of musical talent - Aaron Copland, Pierre Boulez, Peter Maxwell Davies, Lukas Foss, and Emanuel Ax, to name a few. Local architect David Bury has now designed a brand new home for the festival, which opens today.
Theatre Training Ground To Disappear
The Denver Center's National Theatre Conservatory has announced that its MFA program will close its doors in 2012. The conservatory is the nation's only congressionally chartered MFA theatre program and one of the only MFA programs in the nation that pays every student's tuition in full.
