If boiling down an opera plot to 140 characters or fewer in the Twitter #operaplot contest doesn't do it for you, now might be your chance to compose a full-length opera of your own. The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has given a $90,000 grant in support of the American Lyric Theater's Composer Librettist Development Program, according to an article in The New York Times. Funds will go to mentor the program's composers, librettists-to-be and to mount productions of newly created operas. So, I'm just curious.
