The winners of the Gramophone Awards for 2009 received their awards last Friday, October 2. Since then I've been busy reading my emails from record labels announcing their awards, looking online at the list of winners, and checking our library holdings to see what we're missing and need to order. Altogether there are 15 different categories of awards, including Record of the Year. This year's "best of the best" went to Quatuor Ebene for their CD of Ravel, Debussy and Faure String Quartets, which also won the Chamber category. Enjoy watching the video released by EMI & Virgin Classics a year ago to promote this now award-winning CD. Plus, there's a nice little moment at the end when "the boys" sing. Should you be curious to see who the "losers" are, here's the short list of the nominees. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2Hywiv8jXU
