Anna Deavere Smith's Play 'Let Me Down Easy'

Award-winning actress Anna Deavere Smith returns to the Wexner Center with her latest production, Let Me Down Easy. Smith inhabits 20 different characters as they face illness, injury, and death. It's an incisive look at the US healthcare system understood through her documentarian style and rendered through journalistic technique - Smith interviews her subjects and interprets their words through performance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bx3mGPphok&feature=player_embedded#at=16 Ann Deaveare Smith is an actress, playwright, and professor. You may recognize her from TV and movies, including Nurse Jackie, The West Wing, and The American President. She is a professor at New York University and founder of The Institute on the Arts and Civic Dialogue, a project at Harvard University. She is currently the artist in residence at the Center for American Progress. Throughout her career she has earned two Obie awards, two Tony nominations, a Drama Desk Award, the USA Susan V. Berresford Award from United States Artists, a MacArthur fellowship, as well as other awards and honors. She has received honorary degrees from Juilliard, and Northwestern, and a Radcliffe Medal.
