Les Wexner was dethroned as Ohio's richest person by the owner of the San Francisco 49ers, according to a list of billionaires and their net worth released by Forbes.
Denise York and her family, who live in Youngstown, are listed with a net worth of $10 billion by the global business media company on its "World's Real-Time Billionaires" list. Wexner, by contrast, clocks in with a net worth of $9.3 billion.
York, 76, is the co-chairperson of the 49ers and her family owns 90% of the team. She is also co-chairperson of the English Premier League soccer team Leeds United and the owner of the Scottish soccer team Rangers F.C.
York's son, Jed York is the team's CEO. He was recently arrested in East Palestine, Ohio and charged with engaging in prostitution.
Wexner has faced his own troubles in the past year, facing renewed scrutiny from Congress and the public for his close friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Wexner built his fortune through real estate and his retail empire which has included prominent brands The Limited, Victoria's Secret, Bath and Body Works and Abercrombie and Fitch.
York's father, Edward DeBartolo, bought the 49ers for $13 million in the 1970s. The team is now valied at more than $8 billion.
York outranks Ohio's other billionaire sports team owner Mike Brown, the billionaire owner of the Cincinnati Bengals. Jimmy Haslam, the owner of the Columbus Crew and Cleveland Browns and Dan Gilbert, the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, don't live in Ohio.
