Columbus Regional Airport Authority reports that more than 230,000 passengers are scheduled to fly out of Columbus-area airports between Dec. 19 and Jan. 2.

The busiest day to fly will be Dec. 30, when Buckeye fans are scheduled to head south for the Cotton Bowl. Airlines added about 2,000 seats from Columbus to the Dallas area. The Ohio State Buckeyes will take on either Texas A&M or Miami in Arlington, Texas, on Dec. 31.

In all, around 17,600 seats are booked out of Columbus on Dec. 30. Friday marks the second-busiest travel day with about 17,300 outbound passengers.

Other top days to fly are Dec. 28, with about 17,000 departing seats booked, and Dec. 29, with 16,700 departing seats booked.

Columbus Regional Airport Authority suggests that passengers arrive at the airport 90 minutes before domestic flights and two hours before international flights. John Glenn International Airport lists estimated security line wait times online.

IDs must be TSA-approved. TSA no longer accepts standard driver's licenses for travel. Passengers must have a Real ID or another compliant form of identification, like a passport.

For those collecting passengers this holiday season, John Glenn International Airport has an additional cell phone lot located between the air traffic control tower and the terminal.
