Cooper Stadium housed the Columbus Clippers minor league triple A baseball team for decades until 2008 when the team moved to Huntington Park in the Arena District.

Developer Arshot Investment Corp, under the name SPARC Holding LLC, wants to rezone the 47 acres of land the old stadium sits on to include mixed use buildings, retail stores and a large paved event space where the baseball diamond had been located.

This new proposal comes after a previous plan to redevelop the space into a racetrack and automotive research center fell through in 2019.

The site plans illustrate two new retail buildings on West Mound Street to the northwest of the stadium grandstand, two mixed-use buildings on the west side of the lot and two more apartment buildings to the south of the stadium.

The stadium is labeled as "paved event space" and is surrounded by parking with a proposed dog park.

The plan keeps some existing buildings on the site and what remains of the stadium and grandstand intact.

The development plans need to go through more than one vote from Columbus City Council before moving forward.
