Several hospital systems in central Ohio are choosing to make masks optional due to decreasing cases of COVID-19 and influenza.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, OhioHealth and Mount Carmel Health Systems will make wearing masks optional starting Friday, April 14.

In some cases, masks may be required for visitors based on some specific patient situations. Masks are still recommended for visitors if they are having respiratory issues.

The masking policies may slightly vary based on the hospital system.

Nationwide Children's Hospital also recently opted to no longer require masks in most parts of the hospital.
