Airline travelers will find plenty of company at the John Glenn Columbus International Airport and the Rickenbacker Terminal. Airport officials say one of the busiest travel days will be Tuesday with approximately 14,500 expected passengers.
"The Sunday after Thanksgiving is the busiest day with airline seats at 15,000,” says Sarah McQuaide, Manager of Communications and Marketing with the Columbus Regional Airport Authority. “And then the Monday after Thanksgiving, we have again over 14,000 scheduled departures departing airline seats out of CMH."
McQuaide says travel will be about 87 percent of pre-pandemic levels. Her advice for airline travelers is to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before scheduled domestic flight departures and two hours ahead of international trip departures.
"Things are definitely a lot busier than they have been over the past couple of years,” says McQuaide. “People are definitely wanting to spend time with their families, willing to hop on a plane and make that trip, and things are definitely returning back to normal."
McQuaide says TSA security checkpoint lines could be longer than usual, and travelers should be prepared for longer wait times.
