Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine stopped in Cleveland late Wednesday morning, answering questions about the new curfew and reiterating that a "bridge" is needed before a coronavirus vaccine distribution begins next month. On Tuesday, DeWine announced curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. in Ohio starting Thursday night and running for three weeks.

Updated: 10:50 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020 Akron City Council passed legislation Monday night temporarily limiting the size of private gatherings in the city and mandating face coverings at those gatherings for 30 the next days, a proposal introduced earlier in the day by Mayor Dan Horrigan. The measure passed 9-3, with one abstention.

A report from The New York Times says the U.S. Justice Department has effectively shut down the investigation into the death of 12-year-old Tamir Rice, who was killed by Cleveland police near the Cuddell Recreation Center in 2014. The Times further reports the department has not officially closed the case, adding further confusion. New York Times reporter Katie Benner helped break the story and she joined host Glenn Forbes on All Things Considered Friday.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden took aim at President Donald Trump's values and economic policy during a drive-in style rally at a United Auto Workers Hall in Toledo Monday. “I don't respect people based on whether they own a mansion,” Biden said “I don't judge them based on whether they belong to a country club. You and I measure people by the strength of their character.”

A second ballot drop-off location will be available for Cuyahoga County voters as of Tuesday morning. Cuyahoga County Board of Elections staff will be available to accept completed ballots starting at 8 a.m. at the Campus International High School on Chester Avenue. The parking lot for the school is directly across E. 30th Street from the back of the board of election main building and the main drop box.

Mike DeWine began his Thursday COVID-19 press conference discussing Tuesday's presidential debate in Cleveland, saying it was not America's finest hour. “I hope that the next debate will focus on the future, vital issues on the decisions that the next President of the United States will have to make, on the substantive issues that this country faces,” he said. “The name calling by both candidates is simply not helpful. The name calling by both candidates is not productive.”

Updated: 5:35 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020 Summit County has dropped from coronavirus alert Level 3, or red, down two levels to Level 1, or yellow, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced Thursday during his regular virus briefing. But more counties are moving up from Level 1 to Level 2, and in the case of Portage County, the increase in COVID-19 cases has taken the county up from Level 2 to Level 3.

A Cuyahoga County grand jury on Wednesday handed down 10 indictments related to the rioting in Downtown Cleveland on May 30. The 10 people indicted range in age from 18 to 38, with aggravated riot, theft and vandalism the most frequent charges.
