The Columbus City School Board plans to interview five candidates to become the district’s next superintendent. The board is hoping to name its choice in about a month.
The school board voted to advance five of the six candidates recommended by its search firm, BWP & Associates. The sixth, Scott Inskeep, recently bowed out after Kettering City Schools offered him a contract extension.
The board will interview:
- John Standford, Columbus interim superintendent.
- Talisa Dixon, superintendent for Cleveland Heights-University Heights City Schools.
- Ava Takser-Mitchell, an elementary instructional director with Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland.
- Terry Dade, an assistant superintendent with Fairfax County Schools in Virginia.
- Jayson Strickland, a deputy superintendent with Kansas City Schools in Kansas.
Interviews are slated for next week and the board is planning in-district visits with finalists the week after. The board is aiming to name the new superintendent by October 15, with hopes of having him or her start by January 1, 2019.
