Primary Numbers
Mary Taylor and Mike DeWine continue to spend big money on campaign ads despite the fact that polling shows DeWine with a double-digit lead. On the Democratic side, Richard Cordray appears to have an edge over his main rival Dennis Kucinich, but Modern Family and Married With Children actor Ed O'Neill is throwing his weight behind state Sen. Joe Schiavoni.
Ohio's 12th District
The rift in the GOP is playing out in the primary for Pat Tiberi's seat in Congress. Three mainstream Republicans may split the vote, leaving an opening for Liberty Township trustee Melanie Leneghan, a Trump supporter who has earned conservative cred from Ohio's U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan. Democrats are also serving up a crowded dish of candidates for primary voters.

After a night out at the White House Correspondents Dinner, Gov. John Kasich appeared on CNN and was asked if he would run as an independent candidate in 2020. "I didn't leave the Republican Party. The Republican Party left me," was his reply.
