How did George Clooney meet his future wife, Amal Alamuddin? She came to his house in Italy. That's revealed in the new Netflix teaser for David Letterman's Clooney interview available Feb. 9.

Clooney is Letterman's guest for an hour on the second installment of his new six-episode show,  "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction."

On the show taped late last year, Letterman asks: "She came over to the house? You didn't even have to leave the house?"

"I didn't even have to leave the house," Clooney says. "It was the wildest thing. A mutual friend of ours said, 'I'm stopping by. Can I bring my friend?' And I said, 'Of course.'

"And I got a call from my agent," Clooney continues, "who called me and said, 'I met this woman, who's coming to your house, who you're going to marry.' ...It really worked out that way.

"And the funny thing was that my mom and dad were visiting. So my parents were there. And we just talked. We stayed up all night talking.

"And then I got her email address. She was going to send some pictures with my parents, and, uh, we started writing. And I really have a -- I didn't really -- I didn't know if she wanted to go out with me. I just thought, you know, we were buddies."

Nick Clooney, his father, had told me he was there when George met Amal, a London-based human rights lawyer, and that he knew it was love at first sight for his son. But Nick never told me where they met.

Letterman, who grew up in Indianapolis, has demonstrated a fondness for Clooney and his famous aunt and father over the years. Letterman watched WLWT-TV's live Cincinnati daytime shows starring Ruth Lyons and Paul Dixon on sister Indianapolis station WLWI-TV. In 2014, Nick and Nina Clooney were with George in Letterman's green room when he was promoting "Monuments Men" on CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman." Nick had a cameo in the World War II film.

Letterman's four remaining guests are Pakistani activist Malala Yousafza, radio host Howard Stern, hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, and actress/comedian/TV producer Tiny Fey. Former President Barack Obama was Letterman's first guest on Jan. 12.

At the Television Critics Association's winter press tour last month, Hulu announced that George Clooney will star in "Catch-22," a six-episode series based on Joseph Heller's 1961 novel set in Italy during World War II. It's his first TV series role since NBC's "ER" (1993-98).
