Grand Night: Love Letters to Ella

Celebrating 100 years of Ella Fitzgerald at Miami University

The centennial celebration concerts of jazz vocalist Ella Fitzgerald, by a cast of 28 vocalists and 18 jazz musicians & guests artists, is scheduled for November 17th & 18th at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  The Hollywood Style Revue will feature vocalist Mandy Gaines, pianist Steve Schmidt, and the Grand Night All-Star Big Band with Miami University’s strings.  Benjamin Smolder wrote and directed the performance which is narrated by Dr. Tammy Kernodle.  The concerts will also include new arrangements of the Great American Songbook songs which Ella Fitzgerald is famous for including “Take the A-Train,” “My Funny Valentine,” and “Mack the Knife.”
