The pros and cons of the Higher Education Enhancement Act

Flickr.com

The Higher Education Enhancement Act, introduced in the Ohio Senate, aims to bar faculty at public universities and colleges from striking.

It also bans DEI mandates and other policies that may give preferential treatment to any groups, as well as place restrictions on what subjects professors can discuss in the classroom, while also mandating that a U.S. history course be required for all undergraduate students.

Proponents say such stipulations will ensure intellectual diversity and put an end to a perception of liberal bias in the ivory towers, while opponents say they will do just the opposite.

We’ll talk about the pros and cons and why now.
