Juveniles in the Justice System

Surveillance video of a prison guard shoving Kalief Browder's head onto the floor at Rikers Island. Kalief had said abusive and aggressive prison guards at Rikers were commonplace.

In the wake of KaliefBrowder's treatment on Rikers Island and subsequent suicide, the treatment of juveniles in the justice system is under a critical eye. We look into the disparities in arrests by police, the aspect of "detention" or being detained before trial, and the treatment of juveniles in jails and prisons.
