Central Ohio Real Estate Market Heats Up

Demand is high for Central Ohio real estate.

Columbus Realtors described the Central Ohio housing market in July as hot. The group says houses cost more and stayed on the market a short length of time than at any other point in the year.

Columbus Realtors President Kathy Shiflet says demand was high last month for houses and condos in Central Ohio.

During July, the real estate group says homes spent an average of 43 days on the market from listing to contract. That's a shorter number of days than last year and a record low for any month.

Buyers paid an average of 206-thousand dollars for a house last month. That about 4-percent more than last year and another record for any year.

Realtors expect the trend to continue in August because they have many families in the market who want to make a move before the school year gets too far underway.
