Republican leaders in the Ohio House are moving quickly to make it harder for supporters of legalizing marijuana to put it before Ohio voters in November.

A resolution introduced on Tuesday would make it harder to write monopolies in the state constitution.

“The day of trying to buy our state constitution – we need to start putting some brakes to it pretty quick, because this is not acceptable to the people of the state of Ohio and it’s not something that we should continue to be ok with and we’re going to address it,” said House speaker Cliff Rosenberger on Tuesday.

Lawmakers point to the four casinos voters put into Ohio’s constitution in 2009 as an example of the problem.
