Reynoldsburg Parent Sues To Close Schools During Strike

The parent of a student in Reynoldsburg is suing to try to close schools until a teacher strike is over. The lawsuit asks a judge to compel school officials to temporarily close the district. Attorney Tom Drabick said in court documents that the school board and district leaders have not provided a safe and secure educational environment since teachers went out on strike. Drabick cited a fight at the high school, students running through the halls, and lack of adult supervision. He called it "near-riot conditions." A district spokeswoman had no immediate comment on the lawsuit. Teachers and school board members are scheduled to resume negotiations on Sunday. Sticking points have included proposals to move to merit-based pay raises.
