Gay Marriage Death Certificate Case Back In Court

A fight over whether gay marriages should be recognized on Ohio death certificates returns to the courtroom Wednesday. The dispute began when two gay men successfully argued in federal court that their recently deceased souses to be listed as married on their death certificates. Both couples were legally married in other states. They want the death certificates listing extended to all same-sex couples in Ohio, but state attorneys say that would violate Ohio’s ban on gay marriage approved by voters in 2004. A judge is expected to release a ruling in the case by the end of the year.
