Ohio State athletic administrators say they want to make OSU’s sports team the most tolerant in the nation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7w3Le55RYHk That sound comes from a new video by the Ohio State men’s hockey team as part of the nationwide “You Can Playâ€? campaign, which looks to root out discrimination in college sports. Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith says athletics have long been too accepting of anti-gay sentiments. “So what we want to do is create a culture of acceptance, regardless of your personal interests or what you do. It’s OK.â€? Smith made his comments on All Sides with Ann Fisher Tuesday morning. Leaders of the “You Can Playâ€? campaign say they appreciate OSU’s participation and hope it’s a sign that major athletics programs are less accepting of discrimination.
