Ohio Lawmakers To Honor School Shooting Responders

The Ohio Legislature is planning to honor the first responders, law enforcement officers and school officials involved in handling a deadly school shooting in northeast Ohio. The group of about 50 authorities and school leaders is visiting Columbus on Wednesday, a month after the shooting in Chardon. Both the House and Senate were to recognize them during their afternoon voting sessions. The group also met with Gov. John Kasich and members of his Cabinet. A Kasich spokesman said they planned to discuss what lessons were learned from the incident. Kasich tweeted that he was "humbled" to have them at the closed-door meeting. Three students were killed and two others were seriously wounded in the Feb. 27 shooting at Chardon High School. A 17-year-old has been charged with aggravated murder.
