Report Paints Dismal Jobs Picture for Ohio

A report being released Sunday says one in 10 Ohioans lost a job over the past decade and workers saw a higher drop in wages than any other state.      The State of Working Ohio 2011, from the liberal think tank Policy Matters Ohio, also says about 42 percent of the unemployed last year had been without a job for more than six months - the highest level in 60 years of record keeping. Among its recommendations, Policy Matters says the government should put people to work by investing in energy efficiency, environmental improvements, child education and preventive public health. A spokesman for Gov. John Kasich says suggestions such as those made by the group are what landed the state in such dire straits. He says Kasich intends to continue policies that draw employers to the state.
