Utility crews are at work this morning restoring power from the latest storm to sweep through Central Ohio.
For the third time in six months, American Electric Power and other utilities in the state are responding to storm-related power outages. Wind gusts of 60 miles per hour or higher blew down trees and power poles. AEP spokesman Jeff Rennie says more than 40-thousand customers in Columbus and Franklin County lost electric service but work crews were forced to wait awhile to start making some repairs.
"It was very difficult to put crews up in bucket trucks with 60 mile per hour winds. And so once winds subsided this morning we will have our crews out working to restore power."
Rennie says AEP received more than 900 calls overnight reporting power outages. He says some customers will likely have to wait until tonight before power is restored.
