Poll: Governor Strickland Remains Popular

A new poll in Ohio shows Gov. Ted Strickland's popularity has jumped in the last two months. The Quinnipiac University survey finds Strickland has a 63% job approval rating compared with a 54% rating in early December.

The poll released Thursday shows that a majority of Ohioans support Strickland's calls for a longer school year in Ohio along with mandatory all-day kindergarten. But he faces opposition to his plans to scrap the Ohio Graduation Test. Two-thirds of those surveyed say the test should stay.

The telephone survey of 1,127 Ohio voters was taken between Jan.29 and Feb. 2. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
