Groups Plan Electoral Battle Over Sick Leave.

A conservative-leaning public policy organization says it plans to wage a paid-media campaign against a proposal to mandate paid sick days for Ohio workers. The Ohio Roundtable says it sent information opposing the sick-day plan to 12,000 business leaders. The organization says it would raise $1 million to air television and radio ads.

A coalition of labor groups wants to place a measure on the November ballot that would require Ohio businesses with 25 or more employees to offer seven paid sick days per year to full-time workers. Businesses vehemently opposed the idea. Gov. Strickland is trying to engineer a compromise between the labor groups and business leaders to keep the proposal off the ballot.
