The World Premiere that never was

When Tchaikovsky wrote his Violin Concerto, the musician for whom he wrote it declared it to be "unplayable." Another violinist (Adolf Brodsky) would prove that to not be the case.  I cannot find any record that the original violinist, Leopold Auer, ever played the piece. Vadim Gluzman, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra's Creative Partner and Principal Guest Artist, recently proved that not only is it playable, but can be done on the very violin for which it was originally intended...theex-Leopold Auer, which he now plays.
