Classical 101

The American Sound Premieres 6 p.m. Saturday on Classical 101

American music sounds different from music of any other country. But what gives American music its unique sound? Beginning tomorrow, we'll try to answer this question in a new program that explores great classical music with an American accent. Join me Saturday, January 5 at 6 p.m. on Classical 101 for the premiere of The American Sound. On Saturday's program we'll tour the United States in all its rich musical diversity: from works infused with the musical sounds of the Big Apple and depicting summer in a small southern town, to performances by the finest ensembles from coast to coast and solo appearances by some true American legends. And we'll wrap it all up with the foot-tappin' sounds of Appalachia. Go Classically American! Don't miss the premiere of The American Sound Saturday, Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. on Classical 101.

Jennifer Hambrick unites her extensive backgrounds in the arts and media and her deep roots in Columbus to bring inspiring music to central Ohio as Classical 101’s midday host. Jennifer performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago before earning a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
