In the midst of a global economic crisis that has brought some of America's most venerable classical music organizations to their knees, the musicians of the Seattle Symphony and Opera Players' Organization (SSOPO) have approved a strike authorization, according to The Seattle Times. The authorization comes after months of negotiations for new musicians' contracts and, more immediately, after SSOPO rejected an offer from management that would reduce musicians' salaries by 15 percent for the 2012-13 season.
