Cleveland Orchestra violinist Isabel Trautwein and Cleveland's philanthropic community have joined forces to bring El Sistema, the Venezuelan program that teaches underprivileged children how to play classical music, to Cleveland, according to a report on Cleveland.com. Trautwein trained at Boston's New England Conservatory and later in Venezuela to learn how to implement and lead the El Sistema USA program in Cleveland. The Cleveland students play on donated instruments, attend regular music classes, have now performed in Cleveland's Rainey Institute - an arts center for youths - and at the Famed Severance Hall as the El Sistema@Rainey orchestra, and will perform in future concerts, already scheduled.
