Fake Pianist Has Her Life Story Filmed for the BBC

Classical Music's Answer to Milli Vanilli Gets a Few More Minutes of Fame (or Infamy)

Runners had Rosie Ruiz.  Pop music had Milli Vanilli.  In the early 1900s, violinist Fritz Kreisler "rediscovered" a number of "lost classics" which he eventually revealed he had written himself. In the late 20th and early 21st century, another hoax was perpetrated by William Barrington-Coupe and Joyce Hatto.  It was not until after she left the concert stage that Hatto's "recordings" began to show up in record bins everywhere. The hoax was eventually revealed, but not until around 100 recordings had been released, many receiving rave reviews. Now, Hatto is receiving a second 15 minutes of fame, as the BBC has decided to make a movie.
