The San Antonio Symphony is the most recent U.S. orchestra to make its struggles with budget deficits and shrinking wages known. According to a report in The San Antonio Express-News, the orchestra's musicians rejected a proposed decrease of musician base salary of more than $8,000, to about $23,000. But one thing the musicians and managers can agree on is that the San Antonio Symphony's financial state is precarious: both groups have called it "unsustainable."
