El Amor Brujo: The Movies

I'm always on the lookout for appearances of classical music in films. Little did I know, until recently, that there are not one, but two films, both Spanish, based on Manuel de Falla's ballet El amor brujo. The introduction from the earlier of the two films, directed by Francisco Rovira Beleta and released in 1967, appears in the video clip below. You won't hear much of Falla's music in it, but the visuals - Spanish dancers on beaches, peasant girl in twirly skirt running through the mountains - give you the gist of the film. In the video clip above you can see the Ritual Fire Dance, the Song of the Will-o-the-Wisp and the Dance of Terror danced in the later of the two films (released in 1986) to choreography by Antonio Gades.
