A Chinese New Year's Valentine

Since Valentine's Day and the Chinese New Year are celebrated on the same day this year, here is music from the "Butterfly Lover's Concerto," one of the most popular classical music works in Asia. It is based on a story of two young people in love who are separated by circumstances, and, like Romeo and Juliet, die; but in this story, a magical ending - they emerge from the grave transformed into butterflies, floating upwards, forever united in the mystical world of nature. Here's the first movement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htQwnFVikmo And not to leave out something from the Western Tradition, from Dmitri Shostakovich, here is "The Romance" from the film score for The Gadfly in an arrangement for violin and piano. The visuals take the mystical sense of love out into the larger universe and bring it back where it belongs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrQ5iSz-ch4
