WOSU Public Media Welcomes Alexis Perrone As Events Management Specialist

COLUMBUS, OHIO, OCTOBER 25, 2021 – WOSU Public Media has hired Alexis Perrone as events management specialist overseeing community engagement in the Ross Community Studio, a key feature of the newly completed headquarters building. Perrone is a seasoned events professional, with many years’ experience in event management, volunteer coordination, marketing and media.

“As a member and supporter of WOSU for years, I believe in the mission of the organization and I’m just so excited to come on board as part of the team,” stated Perrone. “An opportunity like this – to plan and program a brand-new space – doesn’t come along very often. I simply cannot wait to welcome in the community!”

“Alexis will make a significant contribution to the team at WOSU Public Media,” said Amy Tillinghast, WOSU marketing and communications director. “With her base of events experience, creativity and passion, and strong relationships within the community, she is exactly who we need leading the opening of this beautiful new Ross Community Studio.”

In her past role with Experience Columbus, Perrone expanded and managed the in-city visitor experience, running three visitor centers, the popular trails program, and the community-wide “Volunteer with Columbus” initiative. In 2019, Perrone recruited, assigned and trained 600+ community volunteers to support the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) citywide conference – the largest volunteer presence ever in the history of the event.

In previous professional roles, she worked in the media at both Outlook Media and within the Dispatch family of publications. She has extensive experience in recruiting, coordinating and leading events in the Columbus community as a leader for the Independents’ Day festival and a variety of events at Wild Goose Creative.

In 2016, Perrone was the recipient of the Greater Columbus Arts Council’s Emerging Arts Leader Award. She is a member of the Leadership Columbus class of 2018 and currently serves on the Columbus Humane Ambassador Board. Perrone attended Kent State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Perrone lives in Clintonville with her partner, Derek, and their family of cats, dogs and animal fosters. Her first day with WOSU is Monday, November 8, 2021.
