 WOSU 89.7 FM Classically Columbus Saturdays at 1pm
Serenata, also known as “Adventures with the Art Song,” is a half-hour program hosted by WOSU’s Christopher Purdy. If you despair of choosing among the 500-plus recordings of Schubert lieder, or you want to hear Renee Fleming’s new jazz/classical album, this is the program for you.

Saturday, May 2, 1pm SCHUMANN: Frauenliebe und –leben (A Woman’s Love and Life) Christopher Purdy begins a new season with a performance of Robert Schumann by Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, accompanied by Julius Drake. Recorded in concert at London’s Wigmore Hall in October 1999.
Saturday, May 9, 1pm Americans in Rome: Music by Fellows of the American Academy in Rome Songs by Randall Thomson, Leo Sowerby, Robert Beaser and Elliot Carter
Saturday, May 16, 1pm The Art of Gerald Finley The young Canadian baritone was a sensation last season in John Adams’s Doctor Atomic. Hear him as he performs with pianist Julius Drake.
Saturday, May 23, 1pm SCHUBERT: Schwanengesang Two new recordings of the final collection of songs of Schubert’s career-Swan Songs- published after his death in 1828 from Tenor Ian Bostridge accompanied by Antonio Pappano and Baritone Dietrich Henschel accompanied by Fritz Schwinghammer.
