Check up Time! This workshop spotlights health care professionals familiar to children. Using children’s experiences with doctors, nurses and dentists as starting points, we will demonstrate how to incorporate social studies, science, and math activities into daily routines and learning centers. The content and activities will also be linked to appropriate children’s books
My Neighbors This workshop will focus on exploring math, science, literacy and social studies concepts with examples depicting people that children interact with regularly in their neighborhood. During the two-hour workshop, we will engage in multiple hands-on activities to lay a child’s foundation for early academic skills. Children’s books that highlight social studies and science concepts will be shared.
Helpers Around Town This workshop provides information and tools useful for incorporating a variety of hands-on learning activities focusing on workers who provide needed services in the community such as truck drivers, hair dressers, and garbage collectors. We will discuss how to incorporate social studies, math, science and literacy activities into daily routines organized around the theme, “Helpers Around Town.”
