Ohio Ready to LearnOhio Ready To Learn

Ohio's Ready to Learn is a state-funded program targeted to home-based care providers. Participants are encouraged to sign-up for all three workshops as a series. Each workshop is 2 hours in length. Workshops are provided by the Ohio Educational Television Stations through a grant from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Workshops are free and Approved for Step Up to Quality Training Hours. IACET CEU credit may be available for these workshops. ODJFS In-service forms will be provided to each participant. For specific information about workshops, call (614) 292-9678 and ask for the Ready to Learn Coordinator.

Defining an Early Childhood Professional
This workshop provides participants with an overview of the Business Administration Scale (BAS) with in-depth exploration of the chapters on early childhood professional qualifications and professional development. Additionally, the workshop looks at Ohio’s Early Childhood Core Knowledge and Competencies document (CKC) as it addresses professionalism and demonstrates how the use of Ohio’s Early Learning Content Standards for Social Studies can guide the choices teachers make in providing quality care.

Providing the Best Working Environment
This workshop uses the Business Administration Scale (BAS) to take a closer look at the working environment and the process of managing risks. Ohio’s Core Knowledge and Competency document (CKC) will also be utilized, focusing on Learning Environments and Experiences. Writing a Content Standards-based lesson plan, with a focus on intentional teaching, will reveal practical applications for Earth and Space Science indicators.

Engaging Parents as Partners
When early childhood professionals and parents work together, the child benefits. The Business Administration Scale (BAS) helps participants examine Provider-Parent Communications and the process of building meaningful relationships with families. The Core Knowledge and Competency document (CKC) is used to explore Family Standards-based lesson plan that will suggest learning experiences that address the Math Measurement Standard indicators.
