Kinsey Players
etween 1920 and 1950, Curtiss Show Print created thousands of posters, tickets, heralds, and other items for the Kinsey
Komedy Kompany and the Madge Kinsey Players. Beginning in 1881 and continuing for nearly 70 years, four generations of the Kinsey family formed a repertory performing company that toured New York, Michigan, West Virginia,
Indiana, Pennsylvania, and especially in their home base, Ohio.
The troupe appeared in local opera houses until 1901, when tents were purchased for summer performances. The family played to packed houses and tents through the Depression, but bookings declined in
the 40s. After a short-lived postwar growth in attendance, the troupe gave its final performance in 1951.
